History & Overview
The Department of English Language and Literature is the oldest department in the Faculty of Foreign Languages and one of the university’s most established academic units. Founded in 1958, it has developed into a vibrant center for teaching and research in English literature, translation studies, and applied linguistics. The department offers a full academic pathway at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels, allowing students to progress from foundational study to advanced specialization.
Academic Programs
At the undergraduate level, the department offers BA programs in English Language and Literature and English Translation. At the postgraduate level, students may pursue MA degrees in English Literature, TEFL or Applied Linguistics, and Translation Studies. At the doctoral level, the department offers PhD programs in English Literature, TEFL, and Translation Studies. This broad program structure ensures that students can follow diverse academic and professional paths, whether their interests lie in literary analysis, language teaching, or translation practice.
